Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing in the Workplace

Our Perspective

Cicero Group is a boutique-sized purpose-driven management consulting firm with relentless focus on people and impact. At Cicero we know our country must embrace mental health as a cornerstone of overall health and well-being. Mental health and emotional wellbeing are also strategic imperatives for American business.  By fostering an environment of support and access through evidence-based initiatives, the data proves that project performance, general happiness, and organizational buy-in all increase. Cicero Group actively encourages our consultants to embrace a culture of active feedback and true ownership of not only their work, but company culture and personal wellbeing. Prioritizing mental health initiatives such as Wellbeing in the Workplace helps reduce the stigma and activates a solution-first approach to one of the great challenges everyone faces. Communication is the first step in building cultural trust that can then support broader initiatives such as 24/7 counseling access, leaves of absence, and myriad other steps our company and others have taken to eliminate the stigma. This pledge comes as we enter a new world of work from home and the associated health challenges that come with change. We are proud to support and sign the Wellbeing in the Workplace pledge.

Our Approach
Cicero Group promotes a work environment in which all employees’ emotional, mental, and physical well-being are valued. We incorporate wellness into our formal organizational culture program The Cicero Way by creating and maintaining the best work environment and culture anywhere. Finding and embracing opportunities that make Cicero an inclusive, enjoyable, high performing, and positive workplace for everyone strikes at the core of our company culture. On a bimonthly basis, Cicero leadership and employees engage in company-wide seminars on wellness topics, and through our health insurance provider all employees have access to resources that help to address social and emotional factors that impact wellbeing. Cicero employees also have access to an incentivized risk assessment/health appraisal that is available through our insurance provider. We provide articles on wellness in our newsletter, as well as engaging and interactive wellbeing challenges and have implemented initiatives that enhance workplace safety such as providing ergonomic workstations and a wellness room for all employees. Overall health is critical to sustaining mental wellness and Cicero Group employees have access to 24/7 nurse and doctor hotlines through our insurance provider. By fostering an environment of support and access through evidence-based initiatives data proves that project performance, general happiness, and organizational buy-in all increase with employee wellbeing.
