Dr. Gregory Gardner, Jr. is a Lead Improvement Specialist with Ed Direction. Gregory currently serves a variety of roles in Tennessee, Ohio, and Texas, where he implements strategic planning initiatives with school leadership teams. In addition, he works side by side with teachers and teacher leaders to develop and implement strong, culturally responsive lesson designs that help students meet the demands of the curriculum. He also understands and communicates the Science of Human Behavior to build strong, productive relationships with campus staff, and he leverages those relationships to help change mindsets that are necessary for school improvement.

Education & Career Highlights

Before joining Ed Direction, Gregory served 8 years as a Language Arts, Social Studies, and remedial reading teacher at the middle grades level. Following his role as teacher, he served four years as a middle school Assistant Principal, and four years as a middle school Principal respectively. As a teacher, he received the honor of Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year, and he also received district awards for largest gains by a student cohort for Language Arts and Reading. As an assistant principal, Gregory and his team received state honors for being one of the top three schools in the state to improve student attendance over one school year, and as a Principal, his school was recognized as a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) for the 2019-2020 school year for effective implementation of Professional Learning Communities. Gregory also has collegiate experience, serving as an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University for four years, where he taught Master’s-level courses in the College of Education. Gregory believes that education is a great equalizer and that all students deserve consistent, quality instruction.

Gregory obtained his bachelor’s degree in English from Fort Valley State University, his Master’s in Post-Secondary Education from Troy University, and his Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from Argosy University (Sarasota). He also obtained his administrative licensure from Valdosta State University. Currently, he is dedicated to using his experience and accomplishments to motivate and support others to do great work and make an impact on students and their futures.
